The HDM NiTi Rotary System is engineered for high-precision root canal treatments. HDM Gold Flexi Files

Gold Flexi Files are designed for maximum flexibility, making them the preferred choice for narrow or severely curved canals. They feature a constant taper and "controlled memory," allowing them to be pre-bent to follow the natural anatomy of the tooth.

All Gold Flexi sizes are available in 21mm, 25mm, and 31mm lengths.

• 17/04: 250 RPM, 1.5 N.cm torque.
• 20/04: 250 RPM, 1.5 N.cm torque.
• 25/04: 250 RPM, 1.5 N.cm torque.
• 30/04 (New Refill Size): 250 RPM, 1.5 N.cm torque.
• 20/06: 250 RPM, 1.5 N.cm torque.
• 25/06: 250 RPM, 2.0 N.cm torque.

Safety & Maintenance Tips

• Visual Inspection: Always inspect the file flutes before and after use. If you notice any unwinding or deformation, discard the file immediately.
• Single-Patient Use Recommended: While autoclavable, single-use is recommended to prevent cross-contamination and minimize the risk of cyclic fatigue failure.
• Never Force the File: If you meet resistance, withdraw the file, irrigate, and go back to a smaller manual K-file to clear the path.
• Length Selection: * Use 21mm for molars to improve access and visibility.

• Use 25mm for standard cases.

Use 31mm specifically for long canines or anterior teeth to ensure the motor head does not obstruct your view.

Autoclaving Instructions

1. Pre-clean the instruments using a disinfectant solution or ultrasonic cleaner.
2. Rinse thoroughly with distilled water and dry.
3. Place in sterilization pouches.

Autoclave at 134°C for 5–10 minutes (follow your specific autoclave manufacturer's settings for "wrapped instruments").

Clinical Protocol: HDM Gold Flexi Files

Best for: Severely curved, narrow, or calcified canals where maintaining canal centering is critical.

Step 1: Scout & Glide Path

• Explore the canal and establish WL with a #10 K-File.
• Ensure a "super glide path" is established (the #15 K-file should feel very loose at the apex).

Step 2: Orifice Opening

• Use the SX (from the Super Taper set) or the 25/09 Flexi file at 300 RPM to flare the coronal entry.

Step 3: Progressive Shaping (Constant Taper)

Use the files in a sequential manner to full Working Length. Because these have a constant taper, they are safer in curved roots.

• 17/04 (White): First rotary file to reach full WL.
• 20/04 (Yellow): Follow to full WL.
• 25/04 (Red): Follow to full WL. This is the minimum recommended apical size for most canals.

Step 4: Final Apical Finishing

Based on the width of the canal, choose your final apical size:

• For Narrow/Curved Canals: Stop at 25/04 or 25/06.
• For Medium Canals: Use the 30/04 or 30/06 refills to ensure adequate cleaning of the apical third.
• Motion: Use a gentle "in-and-out" pecking motion. Do not stay at the apex for more than 1-2 seconds.

The Constant Taper System – Best for severely curved, narrow, or calcified canals where maintaining the original canal center is critical.

Phase A: Glide Path and Preparation

1. Initial Scout: Establish working length (WL) with a #10 K-File.
2. Glide Path: Ensure the canal is patent. Use a #15 K-file to create a "Super Glide Path" where the file moves freely to the apex.
3. Coronal Access: Use the 25/09 (Flexi) or the SX (Super Taper) to flare the coronal third for easier entry.

Phase B: Sequential Shaping

Because these files have a constant taper, they are safer in curvatures as they exert less stress on the root walls.

1. 17/04 (White): This is your first shaping file. Advance to full WL at 250 RPM / 1.5 N.cm.
2. 20/04 (Yellow): Follow the 17/04 to the full WL.
3. 25/04 (Red): Advance to the full WL. In most narrow canals, this provides the ideal apical preparation size.

Phase C: Final Apical Sizing (Refill Options)

Depending on the specific tooth, you may choose to finish with larger sizes:

• Narrow/Curved Canals: Stop at 25/04 or 25/06.
• Standard Canals: Use the 30/04 or 30/06 refills to achieve a broader apical clean, especially in maxillary anteriors or wider premolars.
• Motion: Use a light, rhythmic "in-and-out" motion. Never let the file sit at the apex for more than 1 second.

Key Maintenance Differences

• Super Taper Gold: These are more "aggressive" cutters. They work best with a Brushing Motion on the outstroke to widen the canal.

Gold Flexi: These are designed for Extreme Flexibility. They should be used with a Pecking Motion, allowing the heat-activated NiTi to gently navigate curves without pre-stressing the metal
